The week began with a three day seminar and grading (6th, 7th and 8th) in Brisbane, for a new to New Zealand martial art – Teuk Gong Moo Sol. It is a martial art developed for the Korean Special Forces and now going main stream through the efforts of founder – Grandmaster Park.
While I was in Australia, the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu guys and gals were grading back in Tauranga under the watchful eye of Instructor Roney Da Silva.
Then a Haidong Gumdo grading on Wednesday the 11th. The sword group are getting ready for the Oceania Mulimpia in October, 2020 – venue: QEII, Tauranga.
The next weekend arrived and on Saturday (14th) we hosted Master Malcolm Wright for a Hapkido grading where Cody achieved grade 1 (1st Keup) status.
The next day saw Grandmaster Vijay Chhika overseeing a Black belt grading which included members from Papamoa Taekwondo. New black belts are Alice, Eric, Peter, and new Junior Black belts are Kai and Chae. Pilgyu was raised to 2nd dan, Conor and Jed to 3rd Dan, and I moved onto 5th Dan.
Finishing the schedule was our Celebration barbecue, with good friends and good food.
All in all, a great week of martial arts. Onwards to 2020…
